East Point Military Complex
East Point has a long association with Australian military history. From as early as 1925, military tacticians identified it as an ideal defensive position for protecting Darwin Harbour and its strategic assets. East Point subsequently became one of the most heavily militarised areas in Darwin, and there are many remains and ruins dotting the area around the Defence of Darwin Experience. These offer fantastic insights into defensive strategies developed for Australia in the build up to, and during, World War II.
